Joseph Lee, 99 East Pasadena Road, Oak Ridge, is seeking election to the Anderson County Commission from the 7th District. The district includes the voting precincts of Highland View, Pine Valley, and Woodland.
Joe is a native of Oak Ridge and a 1970 graduate of Oak Ridge High School.
Joe says, “I want to become active in local government so that I can play a part in keeping Oak Ridge and the rest of Anderson County a great place to live and work -- for my family, friends, and neighbors. The nonpartisan County Commission is a place where I can make a contribution to my community. I believe that I can earn the trust and support of the people in my district.”
Joe has more than 35 years experience in the construction industry and has served as both project manager and superintendent of commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. His knowledge and experience in contract negotiation, estimating, scheduling, and budget management has served to ensure the timely completion of numerous high quality projects. He recently built the Smoky Mountain Heritage Museum in Townsend and is currently completing the Powell Branch Library for the Knox County Public Building Authority. He is employed by Rentenbach Constructor, Inc. of Knoxville.
Joe says, “More can be accomplished for the people of our area when we work together and are focused on the things we have in common. Taxation, development, education, and public health and safety are concerns of all citizens of the county, and I want to be involved in making these things the best they can be.”
Joseph Lee grew up in the Pine Valley precinct. As a youth, he was active in Boy Scout Troop 224 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, he attended Warren Wilson College in North Carolina and lived in the Asheville area until his return to Oak Ridge in 1988.
He is married to Julie Easterday Lee, and they have two daughters: Lindsay, 13, will enter Oak Ridge High School in August, and Loren, 12, will be in the 8th grade at Robertsville.
“I’m looking forward to the campaign,” Lee says.
